About us

We are a team of a architects, engineers, and designers dedicated to producing physically beautiful, mechanically functional, and environmentally rich eco-systems for habitation.
Responding creatively to current industry requirements, Bambooroo have forged a niche market mixing industry certified materials such as steel, concrete, and PVC membrane technology with bamboo.

Our regional studios in Asia, South America, and Australia allow us to focus the needs of our clients, and control our bamboo material quality and supply chain.

Mark Emery

Bamboo Master-builder and Landscape architect from UNSW. Mark is the CEO and Founder of Bambooroo since 2007 and has 8 years experience design and building with bamboo. Recent projects include an Agricultural Center, Chiang Mai 2013; a two story pavilion 14 meters high with a floor and roof area of 450m2.
Mark aspires to elevate the perceived value of bamboo in all tiers of society by realizing outstand- ing examples of bamboo architecture and construction throughout the world.


Adrian Hill

Landscape Architect from UNSW with personal interest in Sustainable city design honed during his Masters of European Urbanism at TU Delft and UPC Barcelona;
Contemporary cities, established largely around stable supplies of materials and plentiful access to energy sources, will be seriously affected by sudden changes in supply. Adrian’s personal interests are to see Bamboo as a key material in supply chain of Latin American and Asian cities and Urban developments.


David Duffield

Civil engineer from the University of Wollongong and Project management Master from UNSW. Specialising in seismic resistant structures, david mechanically researched Asian bamboos during his thesis project, ‘Low cost seismic resilient housing in the Asian pacific’. David continues his personal pursuits with Bambooroo to structurally certify Bamboo for construction use in the Australian Market.
